DST Technologies Joins Proforma Common Interchange Format (CIF) Consortium To Facilitate Round-Trip Integration Between BPA, BPM
SOUTHFIELD, MICH. -- March 6, 2006 -- Proforma Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise business modeling solutions, today announced that DST Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of DST Systems, Inc., has joined the Common Interchange Format (CIF) Consortium. The consortium was established by Proforma in spring 2005 to answer industry demand for interoperability between business process analysis (BPA) and business process management (BPM) and now also includes vendors of business rules engines, enterprise portfolio modernization products and metadata management solutions.
The integration of Proforma's ProVision BPMx enterprise modeling tool with Automated Work Distributor (AWD®), a leading business process management (BPM) solution from DST Technologies, will provide a process-driven environment for organizations to model, analyze, implement, and continuously improve their business processes. Using the CIF approach, organizations that have modeled and designed optimal business processes in ProVision can now implement them quickly and accurately with AWD.
"As we see increased demand for cooperation between BPA and other vital business solutions, Proforma is proud that our world-class consortium of CIF partners continues to expand with the addition of DST Technologies," said Jerry Huchzermeier, Proforma's chief technical officer. "Through this alliance and the CIF, we can provide our joint customers with a best-of-breed approach and end-to-end support of BPA and BPM."
"DST Technologies is pleased to support the use of CIF as an additional method of importing models from the popular ProVision suite. As the business community continues to examine industry standard protocols for business process management and orchestration, we are pleased to see adoption of this practical standard offered by Proforma," said Rick Welch, AWD's product manager.
In addition to DST Technologies, CIF Consortium participants include ACI Worldwide (formerly Insession Technologies), Appian, CommerceQuest, Fuego, Fujitsu, InRule, Lombardi Software, Metastorm, Pegasystems, Trinity Millennium Group, and Unicorn Solutions.
Version 1.0 of CIF became available last summer, and Version 2.0 was released at the end of December. Members of the consortium have agreed to develop the CIF-based interfaces required to interoperate. Customer organizations using CIF can support full traceability between business processes definitions, the rules that manage them, the technical services forward engineered to implement them, the legacy systems supporting those business processes, and the enterprise repositories that store vital information about those processes. As a result CIF will enable better process management and business agility.
