Metastorm Delivers Metastorm BPM™ for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006

COLUMBIA, MD – March 27, 2006 – Metastorm, a leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM) software for modeling, automating, integrating, and improving both human and system-based processes, today announced its support for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006, allowing processes running in Metastorm BPM software to take advantage of the Microsoft BizTalk 2006 Business Rules Engine. A process automated in Metastorm BPM will be able to call a rule in the BizTalk 2006 Business Rules Engine via Web services and act upon the results of the rule.

The solution will enable organizations to reduce transaction costs by eliminating stages in a process, automating more process steps and centralizing the maintenance and management of business rules. In addition it will allow organizations to achieve greater agility, a core benefit of Metastorm’s BPM software and a key enabler of its focus on delivering Enterprise Process Advantage® – a heightened level of business performance and strategic advantage that organizations achieve by leveraging Metastorm to drive greater efficiency, control and agility across unique, core processes.

Metastorm will take advantage of the technology offered by the Microsoft .NET Framework to build further integration between Metastorm BPM and the BizTalk Server 2006 Business Rules Engine. Metastorm will offer an extension to the BizTalk Server 2006 Rules Designer that will allow it to provide test cases and facts that may be used while building policies in BizTalk Server. In addition, the Integration Wizard in the Metastorm BPM Process Designer will be extended to allow policies to be selected from the BizTalk Server rules repository and run by a Rules stage in a Metastorm BPM process. The Metastorm BPM Process Engine will call these rules using Web services, and the process will take the appropriate action based on the values returned by the BizTalk 2006 Business Rules Engine.
