Cerner Teams with Proforma as Global Reseller of ProVision
SOUTHFIELD, MICH. -- August 29, 2006 -- Proforma Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise modeling solutions, and Cerner Corp., the leading supplier of healthcare information technology, have entered into a licensing and reselling agreement that will provide Cerner customers with access to Proforma's ProVision modeling suite. This relationship will enable healthcare organizations to achieve critical improvements to their processes and ultimately enhance the quality of patient care. Cerner is the first reseller of ProVision in the healthcare space.
"The strategic alliance between Cerner and Proforma verifies the fact that the healthcare industry is eager for a solution like ProVision, which provides an intuitive way of seeing and improving an organization's inner workings in response to ever-changing opportunities and challenges," said Ron Pellegrino, Proforma's president. "We look forward to working with the Cerner team as they empower their customers to achieve greater agility and effectiveness through comprehensive business process modeling and management."
Consistently recognized for its usability and scalability, ProVision enables organizations to improve their performance and competitiveness. It provides modeling, analysis and simulation tools to manage business strategy, processes, systems and technology-- all of which play a vital role as healthcare organizations answer the call for enhanced service and higher return on investment.
According to the Hype Cycle for Healthcare Provider Technologies, 2006, which was published by Gartner on July 3, 2006, application integration, evidence-based medicine, acute care CPR systems, clinical care quality and error reduction, e-health, and supply chain and revenue cycle management will all benefit from the application of formal workflow and business process management (BPM) methods.
"Workflow/BPM is beginning to emerge as a key tool to help care delivery organizations (CDOs) manage their processes and thereby improve quality while eliminating medical errors. As the age of evidence-based medicine emerges, workflow will become particularly important in supporting care management protocols and complex, interdisciplinary processes," the report said. "CDOs should begin to develop expertise around the tools and methodologies that support workflow, and should begin deploying pilot projects to gain experience with this critical technology."
