New Independent Research Report Positions Proforma as a Leader in Enterprise Architecture

SOUTHFIELD, MICH. -- May 1, 2007 -- Proforma Corporation announced today that it was named a Leader in the "Forrester Wave: Enterprise Architecture Tools: Q2 2007," April 25, 2007. The report positioned 10 vendors' current offerings, strategy and market presence.

"Proforma provides a functionally rich enterprise architecture (EA) tool and a significant number of templates and models. Proforma's import/export capabilities are a particular standout," the report says. "Proforma's offering is very strong and it does not have any significant weaknesses as an EA tool."

Proforma's ProVision solution also was rated as the #1 current offering in the "Forrester Wave: Business Process Modeling Tools: Q3 2006," September 29, 2006.

"Proforma is pleased to be recognized as a leader in both the enterprise architecture and business process modeling Wave reports," said Ron Pellegrino, Proforma's president. "As business architecture becomes increasingly important to organizations, our continuing mission is to deliver the most comprehensive, robust and intuitive product available. We've designed ProVision to utilize an intelligent methodology that provides a cohesive, yet easily adaptable enterprise architecture plan. As a result, ProVision significantly enhances our customers' ability to make informed business and technology investments and decisions."

Some key capabilities of the ProVision enterprise architecture solution include:

  • ProVision can show users how to combine the four needed perspectives -- business, application, information, and technology -- into a cohesive enterprise architecture plan that adapts to an organization's needs over time. The resulting plan includes infrastructure and applications projects as well as helps with standards, guidelines, and other activities that are needed to reach the desired state for the organization.
  • The ProVision model inventory view is an excellent way to understand the enterprise architecture by viewing combinations of models across all dimensions of the enterprise. Collectively these models represent the architecture, or framework, defining the enterprise's strategy, operation, technology, and decision-making structure.
  • ProVision is flexible enough to build tailored frameworks that fit the needs of different enterprises. For example the Zachman Framework and the C4ISR framework, popular in the U.S. Defense Department, can be represented in ProVision. Organizations with their own frameworks can modify ProVision to represent their unique architectures.
  • The ProVision repository allows users to understand the real world semantics of the objects and models that are maintained by the repository in order to make effective use of the information. This provides the ability to analyze and report on the relationships between components of the enterprise. ProVision is the only certified solution in the U.S. Department of Defense DARS architecture tool interoperability project.
  • The Proforma Common Interchange Format (CIF) enables the timely, low-cost development of robust, point-to-point, round-trip interfaces. The CIF interface can carry unparsed partner-specific data, and it can be embedded within industry standards such as BPEL, xPDL, BPMN to allow them to carry business and process design semantics.
