The Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) is a business-based framework for government-wide improvement under development by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The FEA comprises five integrated "reference models":
The FEA reference models represent (1) a framework within which government agencies must "map" components of their own business and IT functions in order to qualify for IT funding; and (2) a common platform from which the affinity of agency architectures may be more easily assessed. Architectural gaps and commonalities across Federal agencies will be more readily identified, thus streamlining corresponding IT investments.
Metastorm supports the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) framework by providing access to Metastorm ProVision® for Federal models that are visually organized and structured like the FEA, and by providing training and consulting services targeted at the effective development of enterprise architecture work products using the FEA.
