The Best Practice Lab (BPL) provides specialized training for Metastorm BPM developers and administrators and is targeted towards specific requirements established by the attendees prior to the class. A primary emphasis of the BPL is for students to "learn by doing" under the guidance of Metastorm senior development staff and instructors. BPLs are small, focused training sessions and provide great latitude for both the trainer and attendees to set the pace and direction of the course. Note: BPL sessions are not intended to substitute for classroom training.
Duration:
Established by the attendee, not to exceed 5 days.
Prerequisites:
BPL attendees are required to have completed a Metastorm BPM training class. The attendee will provide the BPL hardware and will bring a project specification to the session.
The attendee should have a stand-alone environment that will simulate the development environment they have back at their office. Metastorm will work with the BPL attendee to provide configuration assistance as necessary.
Outline:
Due to the flexible nature of the BPL schedule, the outline highlights the beginning of the session but then opens up the schedule beyond that point.
Day 1:
- Installation/Configuration: The Metastorm developer confirms that the attendee's Metastorm BPM installation is properly configured.
- Metastorm BPM Assessment: The Metastorm developer assesses attendee's level of experience with Metastorm BPM
- Project Requirements Analysis: The Metastorm developer reviews project requirements, determines scope of effort, and plans milestones for the BPL session.
Day 2 - Day 5:
Metastorm developer should begin each day with a review of current project status and milestones still to be accomplished. BPL attendee will work independently. Metastorm developer should plan to "check in" on the attendee frequently (e.g., every two hours) and should encourage the attendee to seek him/her out to ask questions.
On the last day of the BPL the Metastorm developer and the attendee will spend time assessing the progress on the attendee's application and the Metastorm developer will help plan the next steps in the development, testing, and deployment of the application.
