Metastorm Project Methodology

Metastorm has designed a comprehensive project methodology that we use to steer a project from the early analysis phases through to supporting the application. The Metastorm Project Methodology (MPM) is specifically designed for BPM implementation and addresses the challenges that can be associated with this area of technology.

This methodology is the product of many man-years of experience and has been honed during implementations within our existing customer base. This has exposed us to a broad variety of business issues and technical environments. Our consultants would use the MPM to apply that broad experience to your project.

We offer a variety of flexible service packages to help you meet your project goals. Each project comprises one or all of three distinct phases:

Phase 1 - Analyze and Specify
The objective of this phase is for us to gain understanding of how an existing business process works, to design the new process and to get agreement from all of the key users. It is during this phase that all of the training requirements are identified, focusing not just on team members who will need development skills but also on the training that will be required by end-users.

Phase 2 - Design and Build
This phase is when the majority of the development work takes place. The key difference between Metastorm projects and those of other consultants is that we promote a constant feedback loop to ensure that the system is developing in line with customer requirements. Experience has taught us that there can often be an expectation gap between user specification and project delivery. It is crucial to the project success that the customer is involved at every stage of development to ensure that what is delivered is truly what they want, need and expect.

Phase 3 - Implement and Maintain
At this stage the Metastorm BPM process goes live and we assess the success of the project and discuss how the system is to be maintained. Your process will evolve with your business; the best way to extract the most value from Metastorm BPM is to take advantage of its flexible nature. It is imperative at this time that we collectively ensure that your team has the knowledge and skills to update processes independently.

How do we work?

Our experienced consultants can lead your entire project, or just provide specialized help at critical stages along the way. We are flexible enough to adapt our team structure for each project, but the standard ways of working are outlined below:

Full Project: In an organization with little technical resource or where the technical team is occupied with other projects we can run the project from beginning to end. This would include provision of a dedicated team from Project Manager, to Systems Architects and Developers.

Project Lead: Our consultant leads the project using the Metastorm Project Methodology as the guideline but a mix of Metastorm consultants and on site employees carry out the work. This is ideal for organizations that have the necessary technical skills but are implementing their first Metastorm BPM project.

Project Mentoring: With this model the customer typically has already completed a number of Metastorm BPM implementations and only needs help at critical points.
